Streets Made Innovators (S.M.I.) are an English production duo composed of James Carn ‘Carnage’ and Leon Vandol. Their sound can be described as Grime mixed with Funk, Jazz & Rock.

Here at Mixtape Madness we are massive fans of these guys because they are unapologetic, non conformist that always try to create outside the box. Its this energy that will take them far!!!
Hidden away in a north London studio for most of 2015 fine tuning sounds, recording their own live drum samples and focusing on their instrumentation. The pair (Vandol and Carnage) gained recognition through their ‘Grime remixes 2016’ Ep. This contained remixes of Wiley’s ‘One Step Further’ and Devlin’s switch it up ‘listen’. After receiving significant support from their first release ‘Maaad’ featuring Lewisham’s own Merky Ace; from SBTV, Music Week, Urban Music Awards, Radio 1xtra and a playlisting on Spotify’s Grime Shutdown; S.M.I are coming back harder and stronger than ever.

With a feature EP due to drop later this year, ‘Do what I want’ sees (S.M.I) team up with Roll Deep’s Manga. St Hilare. The track is typically an S.M.I production and contains an edgy rock riff combined with banging kick drums. That fused with Manga’s heart felt delivery and Vandol’s (S.M.I) relaxed but commanding backing vocals makes this a must listen.
Listen now on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and the rest.
