1XTRA’s DJ ACE announces launch of independent record label

BBC 1XTRA’s very own DJ Ace is known in the industry for being the destination for what is current and exciting in R&B as well as introducing the new sounds from overseas artists to the UK scene. The tastemaker has just announced that he will be launching his own independent label called ‘The Record Box’, with his first signing being UK R&B singer Ricardo Williams. Williams’ latest project ‘Intermission Vol. 1’ is his debut EP and encapsulates the type of sound that will become the focus of the label.

The Record Box will be distributed via United Masters and will focus its efforts on homegrown talents and distributing and promoting UK R&B is a wider, more mainstream audience. It is evident that the work of the label will align DJ Ace’s consistent dedication to showcasing and creating a platform for emerging talent in the UK as well as establishing a space for conversation with some of the greats of R&B including Ginuwine, Mary J Blige and many more.

His ability to connect with artists and seek out new and existing talent as well as providing his audience with light-hearted yet insightful conversations foreshadows an exciting transition over to the record label industry.
