British musician Kay Young releases Going Through the emotionally-vulnerable follow up to her impressive Roc Nation debut, Sweet Dreams.
The introspective record opens with Kay’s gentle words to her late Grandmother. She declares a heartfelt ‘Thank You’, followed by a pledge to ‘do better’ and build upon the foundations given to her. Accurately reflecting our present times, hope resonates throughout the sophomore track; exploring Church, family dynamics, foundational lessons and grief. ‘Life can be so complicated, still I push on through’ is the cyclical, self-soothing mantra; encapsulating the resilience and strength deep within Kay’s DNA.
The beautiful single culminates in an understanding of the larger legacy that Kay feels obligated to build. Speaking on the track, she explains: “You never truly get over, you just learn to go through. The foundations – they are the reason you build“.
