J Hus has been an instrumental artist to UK music and here at Mixtape Madness we wish him a speedy recovery and hope that it doesn’t take him off the path to success.

We are disgusted by the portrayal of J Hus by the Evening Standard, which shows a lack of respect and dignity for the stab victim during his recovery.

His instagram caption which was obviously from an emotional place as he had just been STABBED, was removed within 10 minutes and surely the Evening Standard can comprehend that sharing this caption in there newspaper merely exacerbates the situation. Considering The Evening Standard are promoting anti gang campaigns, to read this last night was disappointing.

We were aware of what happened last week and made a conscious decision not to fuel the situation. Knife crime is a saddening plague in London that needs to tackled at its root. Many use music as a vehicle to better their lives and get out of their social predicament. As a musician, he has conducted himself in a dignified manor and illustrated that he does want to build a career out of music.

Hopefully going forward the Evening Standard will focus on providing a positive spotlight on underground unsigned artists, in the same way they have provided positive publicity for the likes of Straight Outta Compton, 50 Cent and Madonna.
