The UK Has Signed A Deal For 60 Million Doses Of Possible Covid-19 Vaccine

The UK has signed a supply deal for 60 million doses of a possible Covid-19 vaccine that has been developed by Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).

As of right now, no vaccine has been approved to help treat Covid-19, that has tragically killed more than 650,000 people globally. With a second wave reportedly on it’s way in a few weeks time, this is a potential step forward in what’s looking like an extremely long process and step back into reality.

Earlier this year in April, both Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline joined forces and released a statement saying that regulatory approval for their vaccine could be won by the time we reached the first half of 2021 – providing clinical data came back positive!

The government has now signed deals for four different potential Covid-19 vaccines, giving us a total of 250 million doses.

Business Minister, Alok Sharma commented; “The fact remains there are no guarantees. In the meantime, it is important that we secure early access to a diverse range of promising vaccine candidates, like GSK and Sanofi, to increase our chances of finding one that works”.

No vaccine has yet been approved to fight against Covid-19.
