Universal UK Launches All-New 0207 Def Jam Label!

Today, Universal Music have announced the launch of 0207
Def Jam, which is a brand new frontline label that’s home to the iconic Def Jam Recordings!

Having championed Hip-Hop for the last 35 years, 0207 Def Jam will be housed by Ghanaian London-based twin brothers, Alec and Alex Boateng, who will pose as Co-Presidents for the brand new UK hub. Inspired by a telephone code in London, the name of the label pays homage to the cutting-edge music and culture that the city accommodates.

Working alongside Amy Tettey who will be working as Managing Director, Jacqueline Eyewe who is taking the role of the Marketing Director and Char Grant as the A&R Director, the team is enriched with decades of industry experience behind them. Alec, who has spent seven years at Warner Music, and more recently as the co-head of A&R at Atlantic, is joined alongside his twin brother Alex who’s had 10 years at Universal Music UK, as well as being the president of Island Records’ first Urban Division.

Speaking on the news, Alec Boateng, the co-President of 0207 Def Jam commented; “Music, art and artists really, really matter.
