Channel 4 have commissioned a new documentary with Acme Films to revisit the horrific murder of Damilola Taylor in November 2000, on the North Peckham Estate in South London.

The documentary will explore the devastation his brutal death caused to the community with fresh eyes. Helping to do so DJ and BBC 1Xtra presenter Yinka Bokinni – a childhood friend of the Damilola Taylor, has been recruited to present the film and help restore the rightful view of the area that was demonised after the tragic passing.

Elaborating on the upcoming film, Yinka said: “I’ve never spoken about the murder of my childhood friend until now, I have lived my life with so many questions about what happened and why it happened in the place that I called home.

“To finally be telling the story feels both therapeutic and scary but I am ready to share this side of the story. Hopefully everyone will get to know the real Damilola, as he lived, a bit better.”
