Fatboy Slim celebrates thirty years of ‘Better Living Through Chemistry’ with one off show at London’s Royal Society of Chemistry

Last night, Fatboy Slim celebrated 30 years of his debut album, Better Living Through Chemistry with a spectacular one-night-only event at London’s Royal Society of Chemistry, transforming the historic Burlington House venue into an intimate dancefloor for an unforgettable night of music, chemistry and nostalgia.

Setting the tone for the evening, Joshua James kicked things off behind the decks, warming up the 120-strong crowd before Norman Cook took centre stage to play Better Living Through Chemistry in full. The performance marked only the second ever show at the venue since Handel performed there in the 18th century. Guests embraced the theme by donning white lab coats, surrounded by the Royal Society of Chemistry’s historic collection of chemistry books and the building’s extraordinary surroundings – creating a suitably surreal setting for 30 years of Better Living Through Chemistry.

Fatboy Slim said: “What a brilliant night. Dancing surrounded by chemistry books in one of the most bonkers places I’ve ever played. It was the first time I’d properly listened back to the album in years and it was amazing to hear it with everyone again. The audience were mad. It felt less like a gig and more like getting the family back together for a very sweaty reunion.”

The landmark event coincides with the 30th anniversary reissue of Better Living Through Chemistry, released digitally via BMG on 25th September, with special-edition LP and CD editions following on 2nd October.

Originally released in 1996, Better Living Through Chemistry marked the birth of one of dance music’s most influential aliases, with the 30th Anniversary 2LP edition has being remastered at half speed for a better vinyl experience.
