Valiant, who hails from Manning’s Hills in St. Andrew, Jamaica, has had an incredible journey from youthful dreamer to emerging international sensation. This multifaceted vocalist, whose music has its roots in dancehall culture, has made a name for himself with his captivating melodies and captivating stage presence.
The influence of Valiant reaches audiences all over the world and goes beyond Jamaica’s borders. His impact on the world of music is indisputable, as evidenced by his several chart-topping hits and more than 200 million lifetime audio streams. By utilising the power of digitalisation, Valiant’s presence on social media has transformed the way that Dancehall is consumed and contributed to the emergence of a new generation of fans.
Valiant has won over fans of Jamaican music with his easy-going manner and contagious personality. One thing is clear as he continues his path to greatness: for many generations to come, the globe will be dancing to the beat of Valiant’s rhythm.
Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending Valiant’s sold-out London show, held at Roundhouse Camden. His stage presence was infectious from the very beginning, with the artist opting to kick off his performance from a random spot in the balcony crowd. The anticipation of his fanbase meant that they were so eager for him to come onstage that his resident DJ had to point the crowd to where he was. He continued reciprocating the love for his listeners, inviting multiple audience members onstage to sing their hearts out to their favourite Valiant songs.
His love for the UK didn’t stop there. From JayO, Strandz, NDotz, and UK rap great Headie One surprising fans with short performances and Top Boy’s Michael Ward floating in general population, it was endearing to see up-and-coming British talent being heralded by one of Jamaica’s best. It will be exciting to see how he continues to progress as both an artist and performer, but with such a strong fanbase behind him, there is no doubting his staying power.
