It’s not often you interview the talent after partying with them the night before, but if you’ve ever caught a HiTech set, you’ll know they’re not your average act. We sat down with the Detroit trio to talk creative process, sonic roots, and why their version of fun is far from superficial. Known for pushing the boundaries of what’s expected from club music, HiTech are cultivating a sound that’s fast, freaky, and deeply rooted in the musical history of their hometown.

Though the music itself often feels spontaneous, their influences are anything but haphazard. “In music, it’s Neptunes, it’s Pharrell,” one member explains. “Even in life, Pharrell. I’m just a very optimistic, positive dude… always looking for the next thing. The bigger sound or the wider sound.”

That desire to stretch the sonic landscape is shared across the group. “For me, it’s Donald Glover,” another adds. “He does music, acting, vocal acting… just a lot of stuff I want to dip into.”

HiTech’s creative process is fluid and collaborative. “We just be in there with people,” they explain. “Put some drums down, play some chords, maybe get some friends on keys. We just make sounds and shit, and then we just make a statement.”

Their work is grounded in real moments, often pulling from daily life and the energy of those around them. “If you pulled up and you was dark as f**k or something, we’d be like, man, some crazy shit happened? Say that on the mic.”

Despite the fast BPMs and high-octane delivery, there’s an intentionality behind it all. “It’s basically life encapsulated,” they say. “Real moments. Ones people don’t usually talk about… it’s rhythmic statements. Flash drums. 160 BPMs of your life.”

HiTech are proud to be part of a renewed energy in Detroit’s music and party scene. “It’s beautiful,” they say. “It’s getting back to that party staple it once was. You’re gonna see a lot more house parties for sure—basement parties, all that.”

While their sound is often labelled as nostalgic, they don’t see it that way. “It just happens,” they say. “It wasn’t too much thought behind that part. It’s just where we came from and what we know… it just naturally came together like butt cheeks.”

When asked how they define success, the response is thoughtful. “Everything just feels good. It feels right. We know we’re heading in the right direction,” they say. “I’ve been successful when my kids grow up and do exactly what the fuck they wanna do.”

For HiTech, legacy is about impact more than image. “If we can inspire somebody else and they carry the torch after we’re done, that’s the win. It’s like an infinite glitch.”

Their mission is also rooted in disrupting outdated or exclusive club culture. “We gon’ incite love in that bitch,” they say. “There is a way to have wild, outrageous fun without stepping on people’s toes or boundaries. There could be a consensual, freaky-ass party.”

Describing their sound to someone who hasn’t heard it yet isn’t easy—but they try: “It’s ghetto tech. It’s statements over rhythm. Moments of life you don’t usually talk about, turned up to 160 BPM.”

They’ve recently released their new album ‘HONEYPAQQ VOL. 1’ , an immersive body of work they hope will carry listeners deeper into their world. “Honeypack drums all over everything,” they promise. “This one’s going beyond SoundCloud, YouTube, Bandcamp… it’s gonna be everywhere.”

If you get the chance to catch a HiTech set, don’t hesitate. “Take the stunt shades off,” they say. “Pop out. Pull up to that party. Get you a sip of that nectar.”

HiTech aren’t just playing the party—they’re redefining it.
