For the first edition of the ‘Prod By: Ebz’s Choice‘ series, we’re going to be turning our attention onto the producers that we, the scene, should be keeping a close eye on. Music production is something we as listeners and the scene as a whole should definitely never forget to applaud and credit. The hard work and hours that go into crafting some of the smoothest sounding instrumentals to accompany some of our favourite artist is never easy! Talented producers are located in many places – this series is going to bring those talented individuals to light.

S Finesse

The 22-year-old hailing from Birmingham has always had music in his blood from a young age and sparked his production career around three years ago in 2018. S Finesse’s main sound and strengths lay within Rap style beats but has always been ready to work with various other sounds like Drill, Trap and R&B. The newcomer’s production style is influenced by a huge range of producers from all over the world, but his main influences are Wondagurl, Trap Metro, Timberland, Steel Banglez and Young Kico. He has been behind some incredible projects and singles including Rimzee’s “G Wagon” which was his first track to hit 1 million views. Fredo’s “Daily Duppy”, Potter Payper’s “Frank White” – the same beat but in two different pitches by the way – and more recently with Abra Cadabra’s “Abra Interlude” on his ‘Mixed Emotions’ EP. The rising beat-smith has set the goal to only bring good music to the world. Whilst having a lot in the works, one goal he has would be to eventually touch the Punjabi scene as we all know how huge that market is and the style of music they’re not jumping on – S Finesse is not one to ignore, so stay tuned!

ES

Originally from Cyprus, ES took the big move to the UK, the 19-year-old producer from North London began his production career at 16 years old during 2018. Ghosty and Likkledotz OTB being two of his influences, as well as his good friends both work with Drill, Trap, Rap and more. His strength in sound he believes lays within Rap despite him being involved in such strong Drill singles and projects. ES brings elements to his beats that help him standout and this is what appeals to him within Rap; this can be heard within his placements that are already released. Trap X10’s “Cool Runnings” with LK, Jimmy’s from #98s “Slumber”, Berna’s “Lightwork Freestyle” with assistance from the likes of Ghosty, AV and CZR, to Frosty’s “Back 2 Back” with Gotcha and Madara. Of course, he’s mainly known for his hit “Right or Wrong” with V9 and KO on V9’s ‘Yudokuna’ project; this single was his first to hit 1 million views. ES as a producer is looking very dangerous for the years to come, his goals for this year and going forward are to secure his first Silver RIAA track as well as enter the charts. Now that ES has seen what he can accomplish, “it’s real now…”, – look out for ES this 2021!

Detonator

21-year-old producer Detonator from Wolverhampton isn’t relatively known for one set style but started the earlier parts of his career in Grime, to later dabble in various different sounds such as Trap alongside East Coast/Miami style of Hip-Hop beats. His musical background roots back to his Dad being a musician and his Mum having an evident love for music. Having dipped his nose into production in 2013, three years later Detonator decided to form his brand and begin the process of creating beats alongside mixing and mastering to then begin his production career. His influences range from his local heroes such as Preditah, Swifta and S-X to the likes of Kanye West, and for dance music, Flume. Detonator has a wide production catalogue, some of which include “Dxce” by VITAL, Big Tobz’s “Sometimes”, and “Dumb Minded” by Remtrex on his “Bars from The Pen” project. Two placements in 2020 that standout are Stardom’s “Black Lives Matter” and Potter Payper’s “Kings Blood” both of which infuse those East Coast/Miami hip-hop sample heavy-type beats.

In 2021, Detonator aims to bring something fresh to the table by genre hopping and seeing how he can implement different elements of Dance music into rap beats. If you ask me, sounds like something you don’t want to miss!

Adz Beats

Known within the producer community for his hard-hitting Drill production, Adz Beats has recently made a striking statement with a variety of Rap beats. The 22-year-old hailing from East London kicked off his production career in February 2018. Having already conjured up some remarkable beats for the likes of RV on “Triggered” and 23 Unofficial and NorthsideBenji’s collaboration “Notice Me” alongside fellow producers AV and Gotcha, he has recently obtained a beat placement with Ard Adz on “What Have I Become 2”. However, during September last year, his name started to ring bells as it was revealed that he and RXR Music had produced Potter Payper’s “Soul Child” for the Training Day mixtape trilogy “Training Day 3” which claimed #3 in the official UK charts. Regarding his drill influences, he holds the likes of Ghosty, Gotcha, HL8, Sykes Beats, MK the Plug and many more in a very high regard. His smooth production style has been influenced by the likes of 5ive Beatz, Chucks, SA, RXR Music, JC Beats and Fumes.

This coming year, Adz Beats’ main goal is to get his name out into the open and elevate the sounds he has already been working on. When he has the chance, the London native is not a producer to ignore – look out for Adz Beats this year!
