My name is Olivia Nelson, I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. It’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do. I used to sing Whitney and Mariah tunes in my mum’s living room. I love all the classics. Now I try to write my own. I started writing songs when I was about 13 years old, I would write about love and heartbreak and the state of the world, even though I really had no clue what I was talking about at that time. As I grew older I started writing about my personal experiences, as well as stories that have inspired me in some way. For me, writing music is like therapy. You don’t have to say things to anyone but you can put it in a song and make sense of what’s going on.

I would say my music is a mixture of R&B / Pop, but ultimately I don’t want to box myself in, I’m just trying to write the classics! My latest releases are more emotional songs than I’ve previously released, especially my song “Oblivion” which is about my first real heartbreak. “Friends” and “Strangers” are both mid-tempo bops about different stages of past relationships. “Friends” is about when the breakup is fresher and you still want to reconcile and be on good terms with said person. “Strangers” is about much after when the dust has settled and you can see the relationship for what it was and you’re now strangers again.

Ultimately I want to move people with my music and provide an escape / safe haven for my listeners.
