Avelino Announces Headline Show At 100 Club
27 Apr 2023
Following on from the success of his debut album, ‘God Save The Streets’, UK Rap heavyweight Avelino has announced a headline show at the iconic 100 Club venue on Wednesday 17th May. The album was received to critical acclaim and announces Avelino as one of the most important voices in UK Rap.
Speaking on the momentous event, Avelino said:
“I am really looking forward to the show. This album has taken me so much time to put together and to perfect and I really look forward to presenting it in live form. The 100 Club is so significant; Sex Pistols, The Clash; all these legendary punk rock groups have played there so I thought it was the perfect spot for us, because rap is the new punk.”
After early success from his collaborations with Wretch 32, Avelino has made a name for himself in his solo outputs, showcasing his top tier lyricism and diverse styles of production. This caused his debut EP to reach number 12 in the album charts, as well as achieving the top spot in the independent albums chart.
The artist had this to say about the success of his album:
“I’m really proud of the chart position. I think it was fitting that it was achieved independently, away from major labels, with my brothers that I grew up with, especially given the inspiration we’ve taken from The Sex Pistols’ anti-establishment punk rock movement. Being in amongst Harry Styles, Taylor Swift and all these major, major names is exactly where British rap can get to and I am proud to have made a pure British rap album and to independently have it chart so high on my debut.”
Already on his way to legendary status, Avelino has backed up his early promise and delivered a stellar album in the process. His headline show at such a prestigious venue looks set to be an unmissable occasion.
