With Avelino’s hotly anticipated debut album, ‘God Save The Streets’ due for release on 14th April this year, the British rap icon has today unveiled brand new single ‘Vex’. Featuring fellow Londoners BackRoad Gee and Ghetts with former Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock joining on the guitar, the single marks the second offering from his upcoming project.

Avelino’s silky bars trading places with BackRoad Gee’s rousing vocals and Ghetts iconic flow over a cold and clinical beat produced by Payday and Fraser T Smith, the subject matter leans into the idea that ‘rap is the new punk’.

Speaking on the single, Avelino says: “Vex embodies my suggestion that rap is the new punk. In a world where the punk movement is no longer the music of the streets, we’ve taken its place and this hard hitting collaboration with my brothers Ghetts & BackRoad was the perfect way of embodying that. It was a pleasure to have Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols playing guitar at the end, and to have the legend approve of my vision. ”
