Dublin collective Bricknasty have today announced their new EP, ‘forever’, sharing new single and music video “the dom perignons” alongside the announcement.
forever marks a new chapter for Bricknasty, with the five-piece stripping back some of the complexity of their sound in favour of bigger choruses, memorable melodies and grooves built with live sets in mind, without losing their genre melding sensibility that has become their calling card.
Written in just a few weeks, the 7-track EP is the band’s most direct and hook-driven body of work to date. Plucking from dance, contemporary R&B, trad folk, jazz, hip hop and more, commingled into a whirlwind of anthemic highs, gorgeous moments of subtlety, and a distinct, bold sense of experimentation, forever is simultaneously a stripping-back of the complexity of Bricknasty’s sound and a deeper exploration of their signature sonic approach.
Latest single “the dom perignons” features sweeping strings that sit on top of early-2000s R&B and hip hop textures, with shimmering synths that give it an electronic pulse.
