MOBO award-nominated South London rapper and actress Cristale has today released her debut mixtape, Clear Intentions, along with brand new single, ‘I’m Okay With Being Lonely’.
Opening with the unapologetic confidence of previous offering, ‘No Harm’, Clear Intentions offers a multifaceted introduction to Cristale’s world, moving effortlessly between sharp, self-assured rap records and more reflective moments.
Built around guitar melodies, accompanying single ‘I’m Okay With Being Lonely’ shows Cristale cling deeper to her revelations, ready to share them with the world.
When speaking about her new single, Cristale says, “Throughout this journey to clarity, isolation has been hard for me to adjust to. Losing people, deciding if it’s a loss or a gain, understanding if it’s forever, or just for a season, it’s all a lot of thinking and feeling – that I’m not prepared to constantly do.
Overtime you get to a stage where not only does pouring into people take a lot of energy, pouring into the idea of them does as well, and with life already being what it is – all that worry about other people is just too time consuming, I’ve got things to do man, my own life to live.
So I’m okay with not having to pour into people when my cup is empty, I’m okay with being able to focus on myself with no distractions, I’m okay with knowing how to love myself because I’m not rhetorically giving that love and time to someone else. There’s a fine line between being lonely and alone, I know which one I prefer, I’m okay with being lonely.”
