dexter has released a much coveted new project, titled Fortune Cookie. Featuring six tracks, the project lands at a crucial time for the 19-year-old London based artist, who is riding high on a wave of successful singles, ‘Crazy Silly Parties’ and a newly announced headline show at The Moth Club on November 11th.

Fortune Cookie is an exemplary body of work – truly showcasing dexter’s ability to create addictive ear-worm tracks. An excellent storyteller, dexter allows the listener to dive into her world, and every track tells a unique tale. Fortune Cookie lands in the wake of three stellar singles – “Pressure”, “Something Real”, and “Vexed”, which feature on the tracklist alongside three unheard tracks: “1Day”, “Out Of Touch” and focus single “Play Pretend”.

dexter uses her music as a cathartic release – venting about moments of anger and frustration in “Vexed”, realising you’re better off focusing on yourself, in “Something Real” and even talking about the emotional impact of leaving school and entering adult life, in “Pressure” .

Having just finished her a-levels, South London hailing dexter has been on a recording journey. Originally adopting the moniker ‘dexter’ to hide her real name and musical ventures from her family, the young musician initially caught interest with a number of self-uploads all recorded on just on her iPhone. It was on her first project that she upgraded to a MacBook and got her first vocal mic, as well as experimenting with a few sessions with some local producers.

dexter’s debut EP, ‘I Do Love a Good Sandwich’, received high praise from across the board, with Radio One (Annie Mac and Clara Amfo), Pigeons and Planes, Crack, The Fader, NME, DIY, Clash, Complex, Line of Best Fit, The Face and more applauding dexter’s talent, since.

To cap off an already exciting first year of releases, dexter has toured with Denzel Curry and has also supported Fred Again, including a performance at London’s iconic venue, The Round House. Now set to headline The Moth Club on November 11th – dexter is a name very much in demand; a firm one-to-watch.

A truly breathtaking vocalist, dexter’s real and relatable lyrics have captured the attention of an ever-growing fanbase. Her recognisable and inimitable sonic have cemented her as one of the most exciting singer-songwriters to come out of London at the moment.
