20 Oct 2022
Rising singer Kwaku Asante releases the fourth and final single, ‘No Place To Go’, ahead of his forthcoming EP, ‘Wanderlust’. Written by Kwaku and produced by HYLNU (Rachel Chinouriri, KAM-BU), ‘No Place To Go’ is an introspective single that shows the musician scrutinising his relationship as feelings for a love interest grow but they are not being reciprocated. Kwaku’s vocals are filled with anguish and his lyrics are heartfelt and overflowing with despair at things not going to plan, when speaking on the single Kwaku said: “We acted like a couple, without being official but it was as if we were. Did everything like we were together but it was never the case.”
Growing up, Kwaku has fond memories of his younger years, his love for music was sparked both at church and at home in a house filled with Gospel and Jazz. Playing the piano and singing in the choir from a young age progressed into recording demos whilst at university and exploring his artistic talents never stopped. His formative years taught him about discipline and cultivated his love for academia and sports, which both played a role in shaping him into the man he is today. Fast forward to the present and he now has co-signs from Jamz Supernova, Soulection, Afropunk, BET, DJ Spoony, he has become one of the most exciting and loved voices in the UK landscape.
With all his releases in the lead-up setting the tone for what is to come, ‘No Place To Go’ is the final single from his forthcoming ‘Wanderlust’ EP which is dropping on 3rd November. This year Kwaku has already had some career milestones, collaborating with FootPatrol, performing at Bush Hall and being on tour with Samm Henshaw lead the singer to perform in some of the most iconic venues across the country. Kwaku is renowned for his live performances, having previously sold out his headline show at the Jazz Cafe, his focus is now on his upcoming headline show at Village Underground on Monday 28th November. Fans can expect to hear some of the songs from ‘Wanderlust’ performed live for the first time, alongside some of his previous hits including fan favourite ‘Molasses’ and many more.
