New York City’s future-soul collective The Love Experiment return this autumn with their new single Who’s Gonna Save the World, released worldwide on 5 September via Tokyo-based SWEET SOUL RECORDS. The track offers a powerful fusion of raw, groove-heavy musicianship and forward-looking production, marking the latest glimpse of their forthcoming album Velvet

Built over several years, Who’s Gonna Save the World captures both the urgency of the present moment and the timeless question of where real change begins. Drummer and producer Charles Burchell describes the song as “a powerful reflection on global chaos and the urgent need for personal transformation. At its core, it’s an anthem of self-reflection, reminding us that true revolution starts within, and the frequency we carry can shape the world around us.”

With J. Hoard’s soaring, emotionally charged vocals and Burchell stepping forward under his rap alter ego Karnival Kid, the single balances grace with fire. The band’s musicianship remains front and centre whilst tight, visceral grooves and expansive sound design intertwine, recalling the funk-laced polish of Silk Sonic while carrying the raw improvisational spirit of their live shows.

The track also speaks to the label’s ethos: a commitment to amplifying authentic, boundary-breaking soul worldwide. With a mission rooted in honesty, collaboration, and creativity, the Tokyo-based imprint has established itself as a global hub for forward-thinking soul artists, connecting musicians and listeners across borders.

Who’s Gonna Save the World continues The Love Experiment’s reputation as one of the most dynamic collectives on the contemporary soul landscape. Known for their collaborations with leading voices across soul and hip hop, not to mention performances alongside icons including Lauryn Hill, Anderson .Paak, and Solange, the group has carved out a singular identity where musicianship, community, and social consciousness converge.

For fans of Anderson .Paak, Adi Oasis, and Silk Sonic, the single offers both groove and gravity, a reminder of soul music’s power to move bodies while sparking reflection.
