Welsh rapper, singer and songwriter, Luke RV has announced his ‘WHATS THAT, over there’ EP alongside his new single, ’BLOW MY HIGH’ produced by ‘Kaspuh’. Thematically inspired by Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Section.80’, the main concept of ’BLOW MY HIGH’ derives from the
idea of keeping your head down, trusting in the process and working towards your goals.

Directed by Honey JD, the video was shot in a variety of locations, most notably the scenic setting of LLwyn-Onn Reservoir in South Wales poised against the contrasting scenes of Mile End in East London.

When speaking about the single Luke said:

“I wanted to convey the peacefulness and stillness of the valleys with some of the big buildings and hustle bustle of London, to depict the ever-changing scenery throughout someone’s journey and where you can start and go etc. You are not defined by where you are born/from.”

Luke’s mission of breaking into the burgeoning alternative Hip-Hop scene dates back to 2017. Born and raised in South Wales – specifically the valleys of Neath – the obstacle of bridging the gap between Wales and London contributed to the feeling of isolation and in some ways held him back over the years. Solely focused on fulfilling his purpose as a musician, inner conflict from people in his life has only fuelled Luke to continue pursuing what he had already started. His meditative voice and production hones in on relatable issues, allowing him to connect with his fanbase and create his own unique style of melancholic Hip-Hop.

Having cemented his name in the Welsh music scene, in 2020 he was shortlisted for Welsh Music Prize Awards which he narrowly missed out on to Deyah. Luke’s plans to expand on a national scale are underway; he has so far garnered the attention from BBC 1Xtra’s DJ Target and Huw
Stephens, Reprezent, Rinse FM and many more. Luke’s mission to get himself heard beyond Wales is clearly underway, with five more unreleased tracks to follow on the forthcoming EP he is establishing his sound and creating a further appetite for his music in Wales and beyond.
