Ms Banks releases her new single “Why?”, the second release from her forthcoming debut album South Ldn Lover Girl, arriving February 13th.

“Why?” captures Ms Banks at her most open yet. A raw, reflective track that blends personal vulnerability with a sharp and timely look at her experience as a Black woman from South London. As the title suggests, the song sits in the space between questions and answers, unpacking identity, perception and emotional armour. Over hard-hitting production from OGB and AJ Productions, she moves seamlessly between rap and melody, with a chorus that lands straight to the nerve.

Speaking on the record, she explains: “‘Why?’ is super important to me, it’s the most honest I’ve been in a long time. You never really see the words South London and lover girl put together. Girls from South have a bad rep. My environment might explain why I’m hard and stern, but deep down there’s a girl that wants to love and be loved. This is the most vulnerable I’ve ever been on a project. It’s me being honest about how life feels from my perspective.”

Alongside the single, she’s announced the South Ldn Lover Girl Tour, where fans will hear her debut album performed live for the first time. The headline run begins April 10 in Amsterdam, before stops in Paris, Birmingham and Manchester, closing April 23 at London’s Islington Assembly Hall.

Artist presale begins Monday 2 February at 10am GMT, with general sale opening Wednesday 4 February at 10am GMT.
