Nines Bows Out In Style At Final O2 Show
28 Nov 2024
Last night saw Nines call time on a glittering career with an outstanding performance to a sold out O2 arena. Combining classic tracks with heaters from his more recent discography coupled with a host of guest appearances, the evening felt like a celebration of an undisputed legend of UK Rap.
After Clavish got the crowd going by bringing out Youngs Teflon and Tiny Boost for ‘4 Of Us’, Nina entered the stage to a rapturous reception, backed by a live band as he performed ‘Trapper of The Year’ and ‘Trapstar’. The lights were definitely not too bright for the Harlesden legend, who had a commanding presence across the sizeable stage.
Along the way Nines brought out a host of the UK’s biggest names to join him. Solo performances from the likes of Skrapz and K-Trap acted as interludes across the set, resetting the crowd atmosphere before the headliner announced himself again. Elsewhere, Nafe Smallz, NSG, SL, and Tiggs Da Author all made appearances. The chemistry between Tiggs and Nines is unmatched, with tracks like ‘Oh My’ and ‘NIC’ in particular providing stand out moments.
Towards the end of the set, Nina demonstrated his impeccable back catalogue by doing a speed run of his former anthems, from ‘Tap Dat’ and ‘Can’t Blame Me’ to ‘Money On My Mind’. This felt like an exhibition of the artist’s hitmaking ability, proving to his audience the impact that this cult figure has had on the Rap in this country.
Closing out with ‘CR’ and ‘I See You Shining’, Nines drew the curtain on the biggest show of his career to a frenzy. While it is a shame to see the end of one of the true greats of his genre, the occasion was a perfect way to close the door on a historic run.
