Fresh from a packed summer that saw her play All Points East, Love Supreme, GENT Jazz Festival and more, Olympia Vitalis has teamed up with Common Saints for brand new single ‘December Sunshine’.
A rich exploration of love as a refuge, capturing that distinct winter longing where the warmth you search for is found in a person you love, ‘December Sunshine’ arrives just a week before her sold out show at London’s Kings Place on October 16th.
Speaking on ‘December Sunshine’, Olympia says: “‘December Sunshine’ was written in the dead of the British winter when I was wearing a couple layers and thermals in the studio. It’s about when the warmth you crave in the winter is in the form of a person you love. It was written incredibly quickly and lives quite comfortably next to Lady Luck but also in a world slightly adjacent. Charlie and I listened to Marlena Shaw’s The Spice of Life and really old-school soul records before we made this and so once the song had been made, we wanted to emulate that in the sonics, hence its slightly more vintage mix than the other songs.”
