Proph, a rising star from South London, yesterday returned with a raw and emotional track, ‘The Calm’. This drop comes exactly a year after ‘The Storm’, and the video directed by Mark Jones sees Proph divide his time between the mountains and Thornton Heath station, delivering bar after bar of introspective, straight-talking lyrics.

The 19 year old self-produces the majority of his work, and has found recent success with his more upbeat last single, ‘Baby Boy’. This new track however delves deeper into Proph’s musical journey, as he raps about the struggles of his upbringing and the frustrations of trying to make it in a music space currently dominated by TikTok trends.

The song features additional production from Matty Burg & Sholaye Madamedon, as well as an emotional outro from Zeph that mirrors Proph’s verses perfectly. The artist took to Instagram last night and said:

‘I hope this song can help you all find solace in your own silence, as it did for me. Please take me in.’

With a debut self-produced project expected in the new year, there is no doubt that Proph is one of the brightest young talents to come out of our scene, and he has the potential to go to the very top. ‘The Calm’ sets himself apart from his competitors and shows that he has one of the sharpest pens in the game right now.
