The Red Bull League of Lyrics is helping to bring freestyle and rap battle culture back to the forefront of UK rap, celebrating new up and coming talent in the process. The innovative show is showcasing artists from across the UK, from Bristol to Glasgow and everywhere in between.
Across seven episodes, eight teams of three will battle it out against achieve to be crowned League of Lyrics Champions. Hosted by Snoochie Shy, each team will have to impress judges Cristale, Tyrique Hyde, and DJ MakTen if they are to advance to the next round. Judges can award points by reloading performances, as well as declaring winners at the end of each round.
So far in the series, Pen Game battled JDZ Media, before Dazed Muzik took on 644. With rounds ranging from bar heavy challenges, freestyles, and high intensity team clashes, the talent on display has already been electric.
Red Bull are continuing to push talent in a space that has not got the backing it has needed to thrive in recent years. If these first two episodes are anything to go by, the League of Lyrics can catapult artists to the very top.
