Nigerian vocalist Seyi Shay returns to the Afrobeats sphere with her newest release, “Big Girl”. A fine blend of Afrobeats, Afro-pop and R&B, the project is a rollercoaster of emotions and perspectives.

A duration of just 34 minutes, listeners are given a 12-stop ride into Shay’s personal diary. Flourished with moments of self–love, sexuality and empowerment through twin prisms of Afro-infused productions, Big Girl indicates Shay’s ascent into both spiritual maturity and character. Hailed for her introspective lyricism, each track underlines Shay’s evolution in both her artistry and womanhood. Opening track “Maserati Sexy” featuring BackRoad Gee is a powerful embrace of female sexuality. Self titled “Big Girl” and “Glowanna” showcase Shay’s effortless knack for sugary melodies while the reggae-inspired “Ride For You” featuring Afrobeats Giant Wande Coal remain the album’s crescendo.

A new chapter of her career, the album marks a form of musical emancipation for Seyi Shay. Signifying an artist settled in her legacy and credibility, Big Girl further confirms Shay’s position as one of the most iconic and best-loved artists in Nigeria.
