Sound of Fractures Turns Music Release into Playable Nostalgia with “I Wanna Get Back”
11 Nov 2025
Rising UK-based electronic artist and producer Jamie Reddington, better known as Sound of Fractures, is blurring the lines between music, art, and technology with his latest release, “I Wanna Get Back.” The high-energy, fast-paced track explores themes of nostalgia, digital overload, and the longing for something real in an era dominated by screens and streaming algorithms.
Instead of dropping the song through traditional platforms, Reddington has built an interactive retro-inspired game where fans can unlock a free download of the track before it hits streaming services. The project transforms a typical release campaign into a participatory world-building experience, turning listeners into players who earn exclusive early access through gameplay.
“Everyone’s talking about wanting to escape the internet, rediscovering MP3 players, buying vinyl again,” Reddington says. “There’s this collective desire to get back to something tangible. So instead of just releasing a song about that feeling, I wanted to create an experience around it.” Built with the help of AI coding tools like Cursor, the game takes players on a nostalgic run through pixelated landscapes, collecting memories through MP3 players, vinyl records, photographs while dodging digital distractions such as smartphones and digital slop. Completing the game unlocks an early download of “I Wanna Get Back,” while the daily top scorer earns a limited-edition sticker pack featuring the game’s custom pixel art characters. All players also receive a streaming pre-save for the track’s official release.
