Strawberries & Creem 2022: The Party That Got Summer Started!
20 Jun 2022
A little rain has never hurt anyone, and for festival goers at Strawberries and Creem 2022, this could not be truer. Attracting 20,000 people across the weekend at Childerley Orchard in Cambridge with a diverse line-up from hip-hop, rap, afrobeats, R&B, Dancehall and so much more, the weekend was the perfect start to summer.
Partnering up with UN Women UK for their “Safe Spaces Not” scheme, they also boasted of a gender-balanced line-up with over 50% women headlining on the day. While the festival has had a turbulent lead-up to the weekend; moving from a three-day weekend to only two and having their biggest marketing aspect, Lil Wayne being denied entry to the UK just a few days before, they most definitely redeemed themselves. Having hip-hop legend Ludacris was a moment, flying straight from the set of Fast and Furious 10, he provided that much-needed nostalgia that has been seen across the music industry this past year.
The stage that had our hearts was the all-female Girls Cant DJ X Havana Club Stage, hosted by Henrie on Saturday and Goldie Quaker on Sunday, with their historic and much loved Nottinghill Carnival partnership – with performers blooming across the festival! Sunday also welcomed the talk of the town, Knucks to the main stage, and party starters NSG to wrap up the weekend. All in all the festival was the perfect introduction to a summer back to normality.
Strawberries and Creem, we’ll see you in 2023!
