One of the most exciting talents in music right now, Tems performed to a sold out Hammersmith Apollo this week and delivered a spectacular show. In the wake of her debut album, ‘Born In The Wild’ dropping last week, the Nigerian artist pulled out all the stops in an energetic and memorable performance.

Cruising across the stage in a customised red outfit, Tems was able to combine tracks from her latest release with some fan favourites to keep the energy in the venue at a high throughout. Her stage presence was mesmeric, as she danced to rapturous applause from her adoring fans below. Backed by a live band and backing singers, her vocals held up across the performance and demonstrated her star power.

It was also abundantly clear that her latest release has already resonated with her audience, despite only arriving a few days before the show. Tracks like ‘Wickedest’, ‘Ready’, and ‘Burning’ all received a pop from the crowd, while the lead single ‘Love Me JeJe’ had the whole Apollo singing in unison.

These tracks blended with Tems classics ‘Essence’, ‘Crazy Tings’, and ‘Higher’, meant that the spark burned brightly throughout. The night was compounded by an encore which saw her celebrate her birthday with a cake, before diving into another early hit, ‘Free Mind’. If there was any doubt about the star quality of this artist, Tems certainly put it to bed and proved that she is here to stay.
