After months of anticipation Lord of the Mics shut down the Curtain Hotel in Shoreditch on Thursday night in celebration of the grime scenes hottest release, Lord of the Mics 8. The star flooded event saw the likes of Skepta, JME, Frisco, Shorty, D Double E, plus the nations favorite tea-drinking, no-nonsense Grime Gran in attendance for the exclusive performances and screening. Outside of the curtain hotel was littered with top of the range luxury cars including Rolls Royce.

The revolutionary grime platform originally began as a DVD boxset that saw credible grime MC’s challenge each other to a clash and is now a staple in grime history. Having given grime fans nostalgic and iconic clashes such as Kano vs. Wiley, Skepta vs. Devilman, Footsie vs. Scratchy, P Money vs. Big H. The platform has also received credit for help blossom the careers of some of the scenes heavy chart hitters such as Jaykae and Tinchy Stryde.

With Lord of the Mics having fans such as Drake and Wiley who have closely watched the art of battelling being passed on to new generations. This year’s Lord of the Mics is definitely not one to miss, being packed with 9 clashes. The most any previous LOTM’s has had before. Highlight regional talent the emcees leave almost no part of the country unrepresented, featuring artists ranging from Bristol, Birmingham, Essex, Leicester and Hertfordshire, all specifically hand selected for their lyricism, vivacity, and determination to succeed. Having released a series of Hype Sessions over the last two months via the LOTM YouTube channel, where each emcee lyrically draws out their opponent, gearing up ready for the clashes, the day is finally here to see the main event and see the public crown their next Lord of the Mics.

Lord of the Mics has a legacy that runs for more than 20 years and was born before the Grime genre even had a name. All thanks to the genius mind of legendary producer and MC ‘Jammer’ Power and Chad ‘Ratty’ Stennett. Lord of the Mics gives underground Uk MC,s a chance to elevate themselves into the spotlight and make a name for themselves. Alongside the release of Lord of the Mics 8, LOTM has officially taken over the Grime Shutdown playlist on Spotify.

Lord of the Mics 8 is out now across all DSP’s and in stores in a physical format.
