Zakhar And JAE5 Team Up On ‘Devil’s Enemy’
10 Nov 2022
18 year old Zakhar has teamed up with his mentor and genre shifting pioneer JAE5 for ‘Devil’s Enemy’. A joyous and triumphant track that sees JAE5 bring uplifting Jazz inspired beats to Zakhar’s signature melodic sonic. The release explores the freedom of escaping negative and draining influences.
Created by Chris Chance of the acclaimed 4th Floor Creative, the visual invites their audience into the studio with the duo to create this standout track. Zakhar’s devotion to authenticity emanates in this video as his fans are given a rare glimpse into super-producer JAE5’s creative home and artistic world. Their own personal influence on the track is reflected in their dress sense with J decked in a slick Burberry hat and Zakhar cutting a suave but more casual figure in a matching turquoise tracksuit.
Zakhar elaborates on the release, “Devil’s Enemy is a mix of emotions- ranging from love to the road. I wanted to create a song that’s just a vibe.”
This offering is a follow-up to his incredible debut project ‘Scars On My Mind’ released via 5K Records. The eight track project also saw production from JAE5 on track three, ‘Tough Love’. A huge success, the EP saw Zakhar reach over 10M total streams on Spotify alone and 460k+ monthly listeners on the platform and go on to support B Young at his recent London show.
Excelling in both the mediums of rap and singing, Zakhar often exists in the two worlds. Due to his love of music by the likes of Justin Bieber, Dave and Stormzy, his music has developed alongside the emergence of melodic rap in the UK.
His first single of the year, “Never Hiding” hit 130k on the Edem Wordoo (Dave, Stormzy, AJ Tracey) directed visual, 450k+ total streams across all platforms, followed up by “Lights Out”, heartfelt offering ‘Fly Away’ and introspective banger ‘DND’. In 2021 he participated in the Open Verse challenge on Sadie Jean’s “WYD Now” which then went viral, receiving over 6M views on the original TikTok and became a viral sound with over 165k videos being made using the snippet. He was included in a New York Times piece exploring its success. In late Spring, Zakhar jumped on the remix of ‘WYD Now’ with Sadie and racked up 500k streams in just a few days, with the track now sitting at over 10m streams.
