Amsterdam has launched digital discouragement campaign pleasing with young British tourists to “stay away”.
Targeting men aged 18 to 35 in the UK, initiative is work of the popular Dutch city’s council.
British internet users searching terms such as stag dos, pub crawls or cheap hotels relating to Amsterdam will be shown short videos stressing “the risks and consequences of nuisance and excessive alcohol and drug use,” the city of Amsterdam said in a statement published Tuesday.
The advert campaign is part of a wider crackdown from the city on “nuisance” tourists.
Last month, local authorities passed new regulations making it illegal to smoke cannabis in the red light district.
There has also been noise that the red light district will be moved out of the residential heart of the capital entirely and into a new “erotic zone”.
