Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been banned from Facebook and Instagram for violating its policies, social media giant Meta confirmed.

The former kick-boxer rose to fame after appearing on the reality TV show Big Brother in 2016, however, he was removed from the programme after a video surfaced online which appeared to show him attacking a woman with a belt.

At the time, Tate claimed the video had been edited saying the footage was “a total lie trying to make me look bad”.

Tate had around one million Instagram followers in June, at the time his account was removed he had amassed 4.7 million followers on the platform.

His new found online fame has come for his sweeping statements on women and relationships, which have labelled as “misogynistic” and “toxic”.
