28 Jul 2021
Iconic children’s tv show Arthur will end with its upcoming 25th season next year, an executive producer confirmed.
Originally aired in 1996, Arthur centers on aardvark Arthur Read his life in the fictional town of Elwood City.
Over the years the series has tackled a number of important issues including a controversial Gay marriage episode in 2019, winning four Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Children’s Animated Program throughout its run.
Executive Producer Carol Greenwald told IGN: “In the winter of 2022, the 25th and final season of Arthur will debut. Arthur will continue to be available on PBS KIDS for years to come. Producer GBH and PBS KIDS are continuing to work together on additional Arthur content, sharing the lessons of Arthur and his friends in new ways.”
It’s 240 episodes make it the longest-running children’s animated series in the history of American TV.
