Fashion house Balenciaga has decided to redesign, together with Crocs, its clog prototype presented in 2017 and replace its platform with a stiletto heel for it’s Spring Summer 2022 collection.
Not stopping their the two also designed knee-high rubber boots, keeping the Crocs silhouette as a base, as in the high-heeled shoes.
Head turning partnerships and adoption by Gen Z’ers has lead to a reinvigoration for the brand.
Crocs sales skyrocketed by 64 per cent to $460 million in the first three months of 2021 compared to to last years equivalent, with pre-tax profit growing to $122.5 million between January and March from a previous $18.7 million.
Balenciaga’s Creative Director told French Vogue in 2017:
“We were inspired by Crocs and we worked with them on a Balenciaga reinterpretation,” “Balenciaga x Crocs isn’t impossible, the question of taste is a very subjective value. We’ll see if this works in six months’ time in the stores.”
