Boy Born With Two Penises Forced To Have Larger One Removed By Doctors

A boy born with two penises has had surgery to remove his extra member with doctors deciding to take the larger one off.

To date only 100 men with the condition, called diphallia, have been reported in medical literature doctors in São Paulo, Brazil said.

The 2-year-old had what is known as “complete” diphallia, as opposed to having only an “accessory” phallus or stump, in this case meaning both penises were completely separated.

Each had a separate urethra, the tube that runs from the bladder to the tip of the penis to release urine.

However after inspection it was revealed that the left penis did not have a fully-formed urethra which could lead to bladder infections, bladder tumors, and urine entering the kidneys which can also lead to infection.

The decision was made to prioritise “functionality and not size”.

The study on the boy and his rare birth defect was published in the Journal of Pediatric Urology.
