Grammy-nominated British-Ghanaian producer and DJ Juls will debut his first-ever documentary, Travelling Man: Com Amor Brazil at his immersive exhibition, running from Sunday 8th until Thursday 12th June at The Department Store in Brixton, London.

The film is an intimate 20 minute journey which explores the historical, spiritual and musical connection between Brazil and Africa, bridging the gap between Bahia and Jamestown. Alongside screening the film, the exhibition will immerse attendees in photography and music relating to the film and culture of Brazil.

The documentary was made in collaboration between Juls and Oluwatomisin Okeowo. Travelling Man: Com Amor Brazil is the first installment in a series documenting the culture. His global journey to explore music, history, and deeper connections to Africa.

Speaking on the film, Juls shares: “This project is more than a film. It’s a celebration of the roots we don’t always see – and the rhythm that connects us all”

Following on from his sophomore album release last October ‘Peace and Love’, is an original EP which further reflects the shared origins of Brazilian and African music and culture, exploring the sight, sound and spirit that link them together. The diaspora-bridging themes highlighted in the film are further reflected in the EP, which will be released on 20th June.

Originally in Brazil for a DJ gig, Juls went on to uncover a deeply rooted and still very much alive connection between Brazil and Ghana. During his time in Bahia, Juls was inspired by the Tabom community, a group originating in the area that settled Ghana in the 1800s, helping to establish the Jamestown region of Accra. The resulting film and EP portray this vibrant community in vivid detail, delicately casting light on an overlooked historical link.
