Channel 4 will reportedly air a two part Prince Andrew documentary during the coronation of King Charles III.

The terrestrial tv station has promised an “alternative schedule,” that they claim “will provide an escape from the pomp and ceremony elsewhere”.

Executively produced by the BBC’s Emily Maitlis, ‘Andrew – The Problem Prince’ will feature archive footage, an interview with former Newsnight producer Sam McAlister and access to Palace insiders.

Channel 4 will also air Frankie Boyle’s one off comedy special ‘Farewell to the Monarchy’, where the comedian asks whether the royal family has a place in today’s world.

Boyle’s show was pulled from the schedules following the death of Queen Elizabeth last year over fears of backlash.

Channel 4’s chief content officer, Ian Katz, said: “Channel 4 exists to provide viewers with an alternative, so as the nation is engulfed by pomp, circumstance and forelock-tugging, we’ll be offering a rather less reverential slate of programmes including Frankie Boyle’s case against the monarchy and The Windsors’ scabrous satirical take on the coronation.”
