UFC 257’s main event ended in defeat for the company’s biggest star Conor McGregor who lost his rematch fight against Dustin Poirier in spectacular fashion.

This was a night of revenge for Poirier who was stopped in less than 106 seconds by Conor back in September 2014. The now 32 year said Conor had won the mind games back then, but with this win those days are firmly over for McGregor who has now lost 3 of his last 6 bouts.

“I’m gutted, it’s a tough one to swallow,” said McGregor.

“His leg kicks were good, my leg was dead and I wasn’t as comfortable as I needed to be. I have to dust it off and come back.”

The fight at the Abu Dhabi’s Fight Island ended in the 2nd round after Poirier gave the Irishman a barrage of punches to secure a TKO victory.

Dana White spoke after the event saying: “He (Khabib) said to me ‘be honest with yourself, I’m so many levels above these guys. I’ve beaten these guys’. I don’t know, but it doesn’t sound very positive.”
