Cannabis becoming a Class-A drug in the UK is a possibility, a Government source has claimed.

Home Secretary, Suella Braverman is said to be ‘receptive’ to the idea, believing marijuana has ‘effectively’ been legalised and not policed properly.

According to the, The Times Ms Braverman has told allies she is on the ‘same side’ as a group of Conservative police and crime commissioners (PCCs) calling for the drug to be reclassified.

The ramification of the upgrading in class would mean suppliers and producers of weed would see their jail terms rise from 14 years to a life sentence, putting the drug on par with substance’s like heroin and crack cocaine.

Other sources say that it is a “very big stretch of the imagination” to suggest the Home Secretary herself wants to change its classification.
