Covid Isolation Could Be Scrapped As Early As This Month Boris Johnson Announces
9 Feb 2022
Boris Johnson today announced he plans to end all Covid self-isolation laws in England as early as this month.
Speaking at the start of Prime Minister’s Questions, Mr Johnson said: “It is my intention to return on the first day after the half-term recess to present our strategy for living with Covid,”
“Provided the current encouraging trends in the data continue, it is my expectation that we will be able to end the last domestic restrictions – including the legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive – a full month early.”
Current restrictions are due to expire on 24 March, but the pushed date will mean the law will end almost exactly two years of legally-enforced isolation for people who test positive for the virus.
The Prime Minister said he will present his plan for “living with Covid” when Parliament returns from a short recess on February 21.
