Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be fined £1million after his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

The first soundbites from the incendiary interview saw the Portuguese superstar blast coach Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s board and the standards of the club namely the stadium and the training facilities.

Ronaldo claims to feel betrayed by the club and the people working there including new manager Ten Hag, saying “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”

Standard form of punishment at Old Trafford is two weeks wages which for CR7 translates to an eye-watering £1million hit, if rumour of his £515,385 per week paycheque are accurate.

Ronaldo’s second stint at United has been fraught with scandal and controversy. In fact the Portuguese captain has already been fined for his conduct this season.

Ronaldo walked out of the tunnel before the final whistle blew refusing his managers orders to sub into the game against the Spurs in October.

Manchester United have announced they will seek legal advice before they decide how to respond.

“Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo, the club said in a statement on Monday.

“The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established. Our focus remains on preparing for the second
half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”
