Derek Chauvin: Police Officer Who Killed George Floyd Stabbed In Prison

Derek Chauvin, who was convicted of killing George Floyd, was stabbed in federal prison on Friday, the Associated Press said.

In 2020, Floyd’s death which was captured on camera by a bystander and triggered huge global protests against police brutality and racism.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed an inmate was assaulted 12:30pm local time at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson in Arizona. However declined to confirm if it was Chauvin.

Chauvin reportedly needed “life saving measures” performed on him and has suffered “serious injuries”.

Chauvin who is simultaneously serving a 21-year federal sentence for violating Floyd’s civil rights and a 22½-year state sentence for second-degree murder

The disgraced former Minneapolis officer was moved to FCI Tucson in August 2022 and just last week had his appeal of his murder conviction rejected by the Supreme Court.
