A Louisiana father died earlier this week following a confrontation with an armed teenager who had snuck inside his home to visit his underage daughter, according to police.

Dezmon Hamilton, 34, suffered multiple fatal gunshot wounds after an apparent shootout with 17-year-old Nicholas Mcquirter, who survived but remains in critical condition.

Following Hamilton discovering Mcquirter and that initial confrontation, “The grandmother and her daughter took the 14-year-old off to the side and were talking to her. An argument ensued and then gunshots were fired,” Zachary Police Chief David McDavid said.

The teenager who used a ladder to sneak inside the house, now faces charges of second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Who shot first is still unknown as the police continuing to investigate the death, with Hamilton leaving behind four children.
