FC Barcelona To Wear Drake’s OVO Logo On Shirts For El Clasico Vs Real Madrid

FC Barcelona and Drake are teaming up for one of the biggest collaborations in football and music history.
In celebration of the popular rapper reaching the 50 billion streams mark on Spotify, Barcelona will use the Canadian’s OVO brand logo on their shirts for Sunday’s match against bitter rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico.
In a statement on Barca’s website, vice-president of the Marketing area Juli Guiu said that the Catalans’ alliance with Spotify “goes beyond a mere commercial relationship”.
“As we have stated on numerous occasions, it is a strategic relationship through which we seek to bring together two worlds that can arouse emotion, namely music and football,” she added.
“This initiative is another example of this desire and the innovative spirit of our collaboration. For the first time in our history, we are replacing the name of our main partner on the front of the jersey with an internationally acclaimed artist in Drake, winner of 4 Grammy awards and record breaker in different categories, such as being the first artist to accumulate 50 billion streams on Spotify.”
Spotify and the Catalan club signed a four-year shirt sponsorship deal in May this year and there is expectation that this music & sports fusion initiative will happen more as the 2022/2023 season progresses.
Marc Hazan, who is Spotify’s vice-president of partnerships, explained how the streaming platform have “always said that we want this partnership to be a celebration of fans, players and artists on a global stage – and there’s no bigger stage than El Clasico.”
