FIFA Series To Change Name After EA Sports And FIFA Officially End Partnership
10 May 2022
After months of negotiations EA Sports confirmed that they have officially ended their partnership with FIFA.
According to the New York Times, FIFA wanted “more than double” the amount of money it currently got from EA for the latest licence renewal, which caused to the two to part ways after nearly 30 years together.
The game will now be known as “EA Sports FC” going forward, although it will still retain it’s exclusive licences and partnerships.
“The introduction of EA SPORTS FC will not impact any current EA Sports global football games, and EA and FIFA are excited to deliver the greatest, most expansive EA SPORTS FIFA ever later this fall,” EA said in a statement.
“Our final FIFA product will also include more game modes, features, teams, leagues, players, and competitions than any previous edition.”
This will include crossplay, which will see players using different video game hardware be able to play with each other simultaneously for the first time in the games history.
