Harry Potter Actor Sir Michael Gambon Dies Aged 82

Actor Sir Michael Gambon has died aged 82, his family confirmed.

A statement on behalf of his wife, Lady Gambon, and son, Fergus said: “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82. We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.”

Most famously known for his role as Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series, the Dublin-born actors career in TV, film, theatre and radio spanned six-decades.

Gambon who also starred in “Gosford Park,” “The King’s Speech”,
“Ali G in the house” and “Paddington” was a highly accomplished performer, winning Oliviers, BAFTAs and Emmys for both his work on stage and screen.
