Twitter went wild the other night (15th May) when chart-topping superstar Adele gave a shout out to fellow North Londoner and grime artist Skepta. Skepta, who released his new album Konnichiwa recently, was praised by the ‘Hello’ singer in front of her 26.1 million followers as well as Skepta’s 734,400 followers as it was retweeted by him with an added message of ‘Love You’ and a rose emoji.
Twitter erupted with excitement and the tweet was liked over 19,500 times with replies including ‘Tottenham = Talent’ and ‘Adele X Skepta would break the world’
The initial message which included an image of Skepta was captioned with ‘Tottenham Boy’ and a heart emoji shows that no matter what genre of music an artist is in, the support is universal. This isn’t the first time that Adele has supported the grime scene. Back in April, Adele shouted out Stormzy at her sold out show at The O2 Arena.
