I Love Jamaica Concert at KOKO London announced for next week with proceeds going to Hurricane Melissa recovery

The tragic events in Jamaica have been on all our minds, and legendary UB40 singer Ali Campbell has united some fellow legends to raise money for the island with a special show taking place at London’s KOKO next week.

Hurricane Melissa battered Jamaica on October 28th, leaving not just 32 dead, but wrecking infrastructure, even now leaving much of the island without water, electricity, and the basic necessities. The Jamaican Prime Minister has reported that the hurricane caused damage equivalent to a third of the country’s GDP. 12,000 homes have been flooded.

Several high-profile artists with long held associations and a love of Jamaica and its music will perform at London’s Koko on November 13th, with all proceeds going to Hurricane relief. They  include Ali Campbell, Boy George, Lovers Rock star Carroll Thompson, Janet Kay, legendary DJ David Rodigan and a host of others have come together to give their services free for this very special cause. The night will be hosted by comedians Chris Savage, Kane Brown and MC and artist Big Narstie.

The concert is being organised by promoter Rob Hallett.

On behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica, we are deeply appreciative of this very kind gesture by Rob Hallett and the many Artistes who have graciously agreed to come together to raise much needed Hurricane Relief funds. We ask the wider public in the UK, Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica, to support this noble effort.”
