A Japanese man spent £12,480 on an eerily realistic dog suit fulfilling a lifelong ambition to look like his favourite breed of dog.

The man, who goes by the name of Toko, commissioned an agency called Zippet to fashion him a bespoke Border Collie outfit.

The two-million Yen costume reportedly took Zippet, who provide costumes and figures for TV commercials and films, 40 days to make.

“I made it a collie because it looks real when I put it on,” Toko told Japanese outlet Mynavi in an interview.

“My favorite is quadrupedal animals, especially cute ones. Among them, I thought that a big animal close to me would be good, considering that it would be a realistic model, so I decided to make it a dog. I met such a condition and made collie, my favorite breed of dog.”

A video clip of Toko dressed in the Collie costume emerged on YouTube in early April standing at over 500k views to date.

In the video Toko can be seen in his collie costume waving, rolling over and performing other canine impersonations.
